Fretted Instruments

Beginners Beware. I'm sure this is a great place for the guitar aficionado, but they don't seem to treat outsiders to kindly. I took a new banjo in to get it setup and ask about lessons. I walk in the store to see two guys sitting on a couch eating sandwiches. I stood at the counter for a minute or two until one of them asks me if I need anything. I explained what I needed and they call the owner in to help me out. Turns out one of them worked there. The owner had what I needed and seemed like a nice old fellow, but the experience as a whole was lacking. While I waited, several phone calls were fielded in the main floor area. After the callers hung up they would comment on the absurdity of the questions being asked. In my opinion they all seemed a bit pompous and full of themselves. I typically try to go to local shops because I like the friendly atmosphere that you don't normally receive at the larger stores. This one didn't provide that at all.…

Incredible Guitar Shop. What an incredible place. Herb Trotman spoiled me for all other guitar shops. I tried all the brands there as I shopped for the guitar of my dreams. They applied no pressure and when we were talking about what I felt was missing in what I had played he pulled out the HD-28 that I knew was mine from the first chord.

I trust them implicitly with any work on my guitars. These folks are really the best in the business because it is what they love. They are worth paying more for, but they are competitively priced with any source.…
