Make sure you ask for price

I drive by every day and see there sign for Roses offering cash and carry "deals." Today I needed fifteen roses. I called and ordered fifteen roses to be cut short and placed in a simple vase. I did not ask for a price, but expected no more than $30.00. I buy a lot of flowers, about $200.00 worth a month, so I generally know prices. It is mid-week and no special holiday. When I picked them up, the man said $98.00. I was floored, as was the other employee working behind the counter. Frankly, they looked like grocery store roses not first quality florist roses .The man's explanation was. "not when you have them arranged. There was no baby's breath or other flowers only fifteen roses cut short. He did lower the price to 78.00 after much complaining. I know I will never go there again.
