Great Persian food and hospitality.
I love Persian food so I jumped at the chance to eat at a Persian restaurant since I eat at one in Atlanta all the time.
The "koobideh" (ground beef kabob) with basmati rice was so delicious. Their flat bread came out of the oven PIPING HOT (caution was given and it was hard to wait for it to cool before ripping into it!)
The waitress, Rebekah, was personable and answered questions patiently. She took "no" for an answer on the desser patientlyt, but then wisely mentioned their pistachio ice cream with rosewater in it ("akbar mashti".) I love this ice cream so I went for it and was not disappointed.
I went on a Wednesday night (no bellydancing and many are in church that evening) so it was not busy and I was able to relax and look around.
I recommend giving this quaint little establishment a try. You will feel like you are transported to a Persian grandmother's home!
New Ownership. Ali Baba has been a long time favorite of my family. Apparently, the restaurant is under new ownership. They would not honor our $80 gift certificate, since it was purchased from the previous owner (although it was not expired). The owner was extremely rude and told us that since he did not remember seeing us there before he did not care if we were satisfied. He was so disrespectful to my family that I will never be back.
Delicious!!!. I've been there serveral times and it has been delicious every time--definitely worth the price. The staff is always very helpful even when they are obviously slammed. The tiramisu was not up to the quality of the other dishes my family and I have tasted, but the Turkish coffee was incredible. I have never had a coffee that was anywhere near as good as that cup was--and I know many fancy coffees.
Hmmmm. Well, the food was different. I think that you will need to know what to order when you eat here. I got the kabab and it was very tasty but my wife didn't quite enjoy the marinade or flavoring. Overall it was an ok. experience.
