First class and of high character.
I have known Mr Lamar since 2002. I was left with an awful business situation by staying with a company after my partners left. I don't blame them, I should not have made a decision to stay. Anyway I
needed an accountant and was referred to Mr Lamar. Mr Lamar helped me through an atrocious banking position along with numerous legal, vendor and tax problems. He has filed amended tax returns where I originally filed incorrectly and now I am on reasonable terms with my creditors and the government. He has gone to any length to help me and has extended me terms for his services.
As for this other review I am astonished. After nearly eight years of knowing this man the last thing he could be accused of is racism. He is very much involved in charity and social work in the Alabama Black Belt. I know this for a fact because I have helped him that area. The person who wrote this bad review is probably like someone who has had four bad marriages and blames each partner or writes bad reviews about a five star restaurant that did not have a salt shaker on the table. Some people you just can't please. They probably have a complaint record miles long before this one.
Accounting and taxes are very convoluted to the novice. If you are starting a business, doing your own books, or just your personal income tax, call Lamar and Associates. They will treat you fairly and be able to help you.…
Totally unprofessional, offensive and will mess up your returns; Avoid him at all costs.
As a person, Lamar was pretty unprofessional; he would make statements that were very very offensive (bordering on being racially offensive) but he thought they were funny!!!!!!!
Secondly, he totally messed up our tax returns - wrong spellings; etc. The icing on the cake is that he forgot to put in some amounts. Consequently, we got a letter from the state tax authority. When I asked Lamar about it, he told me that he will charge us again for CORRECTING HIS OWN MISTAKE. When I asked him how he could have missed out this basic entry, his excuse was that HE IS A BUSY MAN AND HAS NO TIME FOR MINOR DETAILS!!!!!!!!!!
He even tried to blame me for his mistake. If I were to know what to fill up in the tax returns, why would I want to pay him so much money only to be told that any incompetence on his part is not his fault and to be told that to correct his own mistake, I will have to pay him again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then, it gets better, when I asked him what my options were, he told me to sit on the letter till I get the notice from the IRS asking me to pay it up!!!!!!!!!! By this time, I was at loss of words to even reply to his audacious recommendation.
I am not forced to use Turbo Tax to file an amended tax returns and am hoping that I will not be fined.
If I were you, I will avoid this guy, unless you want to risk getting a letter from the state tax authority, like I did or from the IRS…
