Tips for Lone Star Steakhouse

Slow drink service. Good Texas Rose Onion. The cocktail hour traditionally begins at 5pm. It was 6:40 when I and Mrs. Flanders road in. We had been doing errands after work and were hungry and thirsty. The temperature was 102 F! The start went something like this:

?I?d line a drink that?s made with Compari. Do you have it,? I inquired? Mrs. Flanders had already ordered the Peach something and it was tart and very good!

?Well, we normally carry Compari, but we?re out of it tonight,? our waitress said.

?Darn, OK, I?ll take a Cuba Libra, you know, rum, coke and a lime,? I said. ?Better make it a double.?

6:50: ?Sir, your drink will be right here,? said our server, as she scurried by.

7:00: ?Sir, your drink will be here as soon as I take care of this other couple,? she said.

7:05: ?Here?s your drink. We don?t have any limes,? our waitress said.

?Do you have lemons,? I ask? I did not drink my drink yet, without the citrisy lemon. I stared at it, longingly.

7:10 The slices of lemon were brought on a very hot plate for my cold drink. What?s wrong with this picture?

We sipped our drinks and the whimsical Mrs. Flanders commented how yummy her peach thing was and we decided to split a Texas Rose (the other place refers to it as a Blooming Onion) with some Chicken Wings, to follow.

?My good lady, I?ll have the 12oz Prime Rib, here on the menu,? said I.

?We don?t have the Prime Rib tonight,? nervously replied our waitress.

I laughed, it was better than crying. A thoroughly beaten man, I ordered the $12.99 steak special which consisted of our onion, a salad (with blue cheese for me) and a tasteless sirloin.

We both commented that the big onion was delicious. We couldn?t even eat it all. Her wings were very good (I had a bite). My salad was tasty. My steak was?.

I commented to Mrs. Flanders that this place seemed to be run by kids. Well, being from Texas and knowing their expression, ?Don?t mess with Texas,? I won?t! Let?s rate it 6 on a 10. Will I be back, guess!!??

User review by willie2011. Service is subpar always. Seems like a bunch of kids running the place. Food is average and value is okay.
