Off Night?.
Maybe we hit Ocean on an off night: our waiter tried to "up sell" EVERYTHING; the restaurant was so noisy that we had a hard time talking to one another; we literally waited 30 minutes or more between courses.
I love fine dining, but not 3 plus hours of fine dining. By the time we received our dinner course, none of us were hungry and we all were beyond ready to go.
Maybe we had different expectations of Ocean??? Maybe we should try it again...
Pros: raw tower and whole red snapper were AMAZING!

Good but not the best.....
I am torn between 3 and 4 stars. Service is 5 and once you add in valet parking it is a 6. With that said... this is the "best" in Birmingham? If it was not for crab and lobster dishes with a good price I would give this "best" in Birmingham a 2 star on price. Steak seems to be a good deal but I do not eat steak. Salmon and Tuna at $30 is silly. Sea Bass, Halibut, Yellow fin or Mahi-Mahi... now I am OK with a $30 tag. I would not mind a higher price for a better fish. Salads are an OK price but who cares. IMHO the appetizers are the best on the menu. Give me more Birmingham.

Less in price, just as good service, just as good and in many cases IMHO better food. Ocean is good but not that good.
Would I go back? Yes, but not top on my list.

Editorial Review.
Seafood restaurant serves up oysters, sushi and fish served grilled, steamed, seared or fried, plus specialty martinis and wine.
