After working with the same Tennessee hair stylist for years, I was absolutely petrified at the thought of letting anyone else touch my hair - but then, I found Micah! She did a beautiful job on my blonde highlights. I highly recommend Micah and Urban Style!

Paradise Found :). After moving from ATL almost 2yrs ago I've been in search of a salon to call "home" in Birmingham, AL. After 4 unsuccessful attempts from several well known local spots, I found Urban Style in Homewood @ 6mos ago.

Shawn was a referral from a close friend and given my history...I was more than somewhat hesitant to try yet another new stylist. After my first visit with Shawn, I knew Urban Style lived-up to it's hype. Shawn was the first stylist who didn't attempt a complete image make-over on the first appointment. He took his time and made sure I was comfortable before getting down to business. My first cut was AMAZING and this is the first time in over 6yrs that I've found someone who can cut/style AND....color! He's a one-stop shop and as a very busy business woman this is a "God send".

I could ramble on but think anyone who might be in the same boat as I in their search for a great salon...should give Shawn a call. You won't be disappointed!

Christopher Creates a 5 Star Experience!. I once worked with a girl that always had fabulous hair styles and color and I constantly was raving about how awesome her hair looked. I asked her who did her hair and that is how I found Christopher. Six years later I have followed Christopher to several other salons and now to his final destination, Urban Style Salon. He is such a professional and does outsanding work. I don't ever have to tell him how to cut or color my hair, he just knows what to do and I trust him 110%. I get compliments on my color all the time as he gets as close as you possibly can to your scalp so the color looks so natural and lasts for a long time. In fact, I came in one day to get my color done and after he looked at my hair he told me that I did not need color yet because my roots still looked good. Wow! He actually saved me money! That is a true professional that looks out for his customers best interest and not his own.

Christopher creates a relaxing and elegant environment that makes you feel like you are the only person in the salon. I always look forward to my appointments because this is one of the few things I do for myself and it is truely an escape for me. Christopher goes out of his way to make each and every persons experience the best it can be. He puts so much detail into the decor and ammenities offered at the salon. When I leave Urban Style Salon I feel fabulous and always want to make sure I have places to go and people to see so I can show off my hair, thank you Christopher!

Best stylist and best salon!!. Christopher has done a fabulous job with my hair color and cut. I have been going to him for a year and I am so happy to find him and his terrific salon. It is a relaxing and enjoyable experience to go to Urban Styles salon. I get so many compliments on my hair since I have being seeing Christopher. When you have an appointment, you have his undivided attention. I highly recommend Christopher to anyone who wants the latest hairstyle and color!!!

Best Salon. I have been with Shawn Gamel for four years. I have my hair colored once a month and I have not had a bad color. He knows his business. I have had lot of friends go to him and they had lot of friends go to him. Moving away and I know I will not find one this good. The salon makes you feel like home small and warm. :)

Urban Style is Wonderful!. I moved to Birmingham from New York and had a hard time finding a stylist. Christopher Northington saved my sanity and my hair. Intuitive, professional, and does great color- he's a keeper.

Best salon in Alabama!. This is absolutely the most exquisite salon with the two best hairstylists in all of Alabama. The owner, Christopher, has done a perfect job creating an upscale yet warm environment. I Live in Memphis, TN and drive almost four hours to see Shawn. He is the most talented colorist and stylist!!!

Shawn Gamel- best stylist in Alabama. At Urban Style Salon, Shawn Gamel has been styling me for the past three years, and I have never been more impressed with my hair. Shawn's process of highlighting and coloring my hair has given me exceptional results. My hair has never been so vibrant, my highlights contrast wonderfully, and my color is as beautiful when I come back to the salon as when I leave. I am always excited to come for my next appointment. Christopher Northington is a very personable and courteous salon owner. The atmosphere and decor of the salon is upscale along with being welcoming.

Shawn is the best!. Let me just say this, if I wish I had more time and space in which to write but let me just say that after just having moved to Bham and having a HORRIBLE experience at Fringe Salon I found Shawn. Not only was he able to work with my existing cut (which is not super complicated but is very detailed), he is funny and cool and obviously has the experience to deviate from the cookie-cutter dos they teach in cosmo school. I would not trust anyone else in this town. (except Chris, the owner ;)
