I have never had an expirience here that was bad. I am greeted warmly by the front desk staff, who are sooo nice. They offer me a drink, a pastry and a magazine every time I come in. The staff do get in conversations with each other but I love that about them. They all really like each other and get along so well. You can tell by the fun way they interact. There isn't any hate or tension or bad energy in there. They also include the clients in on the conversation, which is so nice. I have been to so many places around town where the staff is so snooty and they barely talk to the customer except when its time to pay. Sanctuary is different. They enjoy their work and their staff and their clients, and they don't cross the line into becoming one of those tacky gossipy loud places. Its very upscale but relaxed and friendly. I love it. And my hair has never looked better in my life since I started going there. I loved what Todd did for my hair, he took my hair (after it had been fried by another place) and in a two visits got it healthy again. I went to Shaun after that because Todd is really really booked and I my schedule doesn't let me make routine appts, I have to just call that day. I liked Shaun a lot too, but once when he was out of town I went to Heather and fell in love. She is terrific. I use her now because she makes my hair just as beautiful as Todd did, but her prices are lower and she is so friendly and fun. I have a great time with her. I have sent loads of family and co-workers there and they all had good expiriences. Its a really good salon. But I do have to say that they aren't skilled with rollers and sets. My mom is from that old school hair and she wanted a set, but Sanctuary just isn't that kind of place. They set her hair with a curling iron, but she really wanted rollers. So if you want that kind of hair, it probably isn't the place for you. As for prices, ask the front desk girl, they have diffrent price levels.

Pros: friendly people, beautiful hair, excellent gourmet coffee, easy to find

Cons: over sixty hair-no

I adore Sanctuary...because it is just that--a sanctuary! Every time I enter the salon I am treated as though I am the center of the universe (a nice treat at the end of a long day), and the staff is always respectful and friendly. I have never been disappointed with the outcome of any of my "do's"...even when I sit down and tell Todd to do whatever he wants. The atmosphere of the place is inviting and warm...just sitting in the waiting room makes me relax. I even had my hair done here for my wedding, and it was perfect. Anyone wanting a great haircut/color/etc. and a lovely afternoon should definitely visit Sanctuary!

Pros: ambience, quality of service, awesome staff, worth the cost if you've got the cash

Cons: is a little pricey

I would not recommend this salon. The stylist new nothing about roller setting relaxed hair, even though they said they did. I called and inquired prior to making my appointment. The appointment was not with who it was to be with, but Shawn said he could do it. 3 hours later I left looking like Cousin IT from the Addams Family. Not only did it take him over an hour to set my hair, but he was using the wrong pins and it was so loose I asked him if he did many. He said not that many. Finally a co-worker gave him the correct pin to hold the rollers in and then he redid some of them. After drying and taking out the rollers, we discussed lightly blowdrying out some of the curls to loosen them, well I don't think he had a clue how to do that because soon my whole head was a shaggy mess. He had not put the rollers in tight enough for the roots or ends to be smooth and he tried to correct this with a metal round brush and a blowdryer. These were specifically things that I had mentioned to him that I was trying to avoid (HEAT ON MY HAIR). Soon he had no choice but to use a flat iron to give it some curl. A waste of my money and 3 hours of my time. And did I mention when I walked in to the salon, I stood there while Shawn, April and 3 other Sanctuary employees stood there at the front counter and said NOTHING. I stood there about 3-4 minutes. Hello!!! did they think I was selling girl scout cookies. Finally one of them said you need to check in at the other side of the desk. People we are talking about 3 feet from where I was standing. I could have said my name from where I was standing and they would have heard me. Upscale, urban salon my foot. Save your money people and find a salon where people treat you like a person and can perform the services you ask for and when they can't tell you it is on the house.

Pros: Coffee, Blankets

Cons: Loud Gossip, Service
